Why a Probate Podcast?

Since opening Willow Wood Solutions, I've talked with many people about how I help families save time, money, and sanity in probate. At least once a week, I talk with someone, and they begin to smile and nod. I can tell they don't know a thing about probate. When I ask them, they say, "No, I don't know about probate, but I should."

Another typical response is, "Man, I wish I had known you six months ago!" Then they go on to tell their horror story. All too often, their situation would have been different if they were more informed.

I never thought I would have a podcast, much less a probate podcast. I resisted the thought for the longest time. But, after hearing story after story from worried spouses and adult children in a panic, the idea formed and grew. Now I'm excited about how The Probate Podcast and it can help people in the greater Houston area, throughout Texas, and beyond.

What's the Problem with Probate?

As the owner of Willow Wood Solutions, I talk about probate with individuals and families to assess their needs. They are usually in one of these categories:

  • Listed as Executors or Trustees in a Will, they want to know what to expect when the time comes.

  • They want to create a Will and have a plan, but their parent or partner does not agree.

  • They are panicked because they see the cost of elder care and don't know how to fund it.

  • They are Executors, Trustees, and Administrators with immediate problems in an active probate case.

  • Even though the legal part of probate is over, they still have problems that involve property and belongings.

Lack of knowledge compounds stress in probate.

  1. Being unfamiliar with legal terms and processes, people have misconceptions about attorneys and how things should go.

  2. They don't discuss probate or other end-of-life issues, so probate concepts stay mysterious.

  3. There are few up-to-date and reliable books to turn to.

Without active and current resources, and with inheritance and money on the line, overwhelmed Executors, Trustees, and Administrators must scramble for answers - and often look in all the wrong places:

  1. They ask family and friends, who also have outdated ideas and information, or it doesn't pertain to the correct county in Texas.

  2. They search the internet and find confusing information that may not apply to their situation.

People end up overwhelmed and confused.

Avoiding probate and getting random advice is not the solution. That leaves us vulnerable and open to costly mistakes and risks. I'm here to change that with The Probate Podcast.
